New material for 2010 - 01/08/2010
New Record for 2010
If you have caught our new set this year you will hear a pinch of folk dropped in the mix with our sandy indie sound. After some long nights of writing on the trusty beaten acoustic that cost about £10 from a flee market (snoopers paradise in Brighton... worth checking out if you have a taste for the nostagic), a more stripped back, almost blues'y approach materialized on the A4 pad. Maybe Blues isn't the right word. At this stage it's really hard to work out a common connection between the influences and styles that have creeped into each new track. Films are a massive inspiration to me (Matt) when writing music and depending on what i'm watching really does show in the tracks.
We have taken a totally different approach to the new material and have found we are all completely writing for the tracks, as a unit, rather than filling gaps, layering on the over dubs and adding parts in the studio on the day of a recording session.
We have recorded 4 tracks so far down at Soundlocker studios in West sussex (on the south coast, UK) and will be heading back to the land of recording some time this year to lay down the rest of what could be an album or an EP (still undecided). Although happy with the tracks so far, we are talking to producers to see if the right someone wants to get there teeth into the project and take it even further than our legs can carry us.
